Page last updated 12/03/2026
Join us from the 16th – 21st June 2026 @ Hollow Tree Farm, Buckingham MK18 4DT.
Please read this page carefully before proceeding to the registration form on the link at the bottom. The following information is correct as as of publication date above, but may be subject to change so please keep checking regularly.
All British participants are advised that due to the requirements of our event insurance through the BHPA, Full Pilot (Power) membership of the BHPA is required.
For any non-BHPA pilots who wish to compete, but have appropriate level of experience, membership through the BHPA Alternative Entry scheme can be arranged in advance. Please contact the BHPA technical office for details.
2026 standard pilot entry fee: £160
This includes entry to the event, camping on site, one GPS tracker rental, and all printed competition flying maps.
Published entry fees are valid if paid in advance up to 1 month before the first briefing. Fees paid after that date will incur a £40 ‘late entry’ surcharge. Payments will be taken through Paypal, linked via the registration form.
REFUNDS POLICY: if, after registering, you are no longer able to attend the championship, a full refund of fees will be made if the request is recieved prior to late entry cut-off date (16th May). If the event is cancelled by reasons of force majeure, a portion of the entry fees, to be determined by the organising committee, shall be returned to pilots after expenses already incurred on infrastructure have been covered.
Non-BHPA British pilots:
The BHPA Alternative Entry scheme is designed specifically to allow pilots that have been trained outside of the BHPA to easily convert this training to a BHPA pilot rating without having to follow the full BHPA training course from the beginning. For any non-BHPA pilots wishing to compete, we can arrange with the BHPA to ensure that you have the opportunity to complete the Alternative Entry in advance of the championship, but you will need to contact us or the BHPA office in plenty of time before the championship. All you will require for this are to provide evidence of your flying experiences, for example through copies of your log book, IPPI card, ratings, licences or any other evidence of your flying ability; you must also sit a short exam with a BHPA club coach to prove that you know the relevant air law. We can arrange for you to take the exam at a club local to you in advance of the championship.
Foreign Pilots:
We welcome foreign pilots to the British Open Paramotor Championships.
Third party liability insurance of minimum £1,300,000 (or equivalent currency) is obligatory. This is a requirement, in order for the championship organisers to be granted their own insurance for the event. Personal accident insurance for team members and insurance against damage to aircraft are highly recommended. Documentary proof of insurance as specified on the Entry Form must be presented to the organisers at registration or provided digitally in advance.
£1.3 Million is aligned with the €1.5m cover that competitors may take out through Flyinsure / AXA. Details available here:
https://www.flyinsure.eu/english/index.html
Any pilots who do not hold a policy providing at least £1.3 Million third party liability cover for paramotoring will be required to take out BHPA one day membership each morning before they undertake flying activities. The cost per day will be £30.
This can be arraged through the one-day membership form on the BHPA website that can be used by overseas competitors in UK competitions. Membership (and insurance) is only valid for the day on which the pilot applies and pays. Therefore all pilots who choose to use this option must inform the organisers that they are doing so, and marshals will be checking that this has been arranged, each morning before the pilot is allowed to take off.
Application form is available through this link.
Discovery Challenge:
The Discovery Challenge offers new entrants and lower airtime pilots an opportunity to try out competition-style flying, and to develop their skills, without committing to the full challenge of navigating over much longer distances without GPS assistance.
Pilots will fly similar tasks to the main championship, although these will be reduced in distance and scale, and structured according to the BHPA Pilot (Power) training scheme. Pilots are permitted to use GPS for navigation in addition to the issued maps, and they are not subject to restrictions on the use of smartphones or other navigationaids. They are also not required to switch off their engines at 500ft for precision landing tasks. Specific details of ‘Discovery Options’ as a variation to the full tasks will described in the individual task catalogue sections.
To enter in the Discovery classes, select the discovery option in the classes page of the registration form (scroll down the list to see options)
Free-flying pilots:
We regret that due to the size of the competition, the sensitivity of the site, and the risks associated with other local airspace users, we will be unable to facilitate free flying by non-competitors during the championships.
Marshals:
We need plenty of support from Marshals, but we also have a finite limit on budget in order to support the number we need to effectively run the champioships, and we must allocate the places we need preferentially to BHPA Members (due to insurance), and to those with most experience. We request that interested marshals submit an ‘expression of interest’ form to us, after which Our chief marshal will be in touch to confirm marshal places allocated. Link to the form is available here.
Spectators:
Spectators are welcome at the championship and there is no charge for daily visiting. If you want to camp on site we request a donation of £5 pppn towards the use of the infrastructure. There is no need for day visitors to register in advance, but if you are intending to camp on site, please use the same form linked below and select “spectator” option, so that we can factor in numbers.
Sponsors:
We welcome sponsors to join us throughout the event and camping on site is free to sponsors. Details of sponsorship packages are available through the official Sponsorship page.
Traders:
The terms of our licence prevent us from hosting traders on site.
